Calpe is a perfect combination of modern town, old village, beach and fishing port. Originally it was a small fishing village, but over the years it has expanded rapidly.
Calpe has to be most famous for its amazing rock, the Peñon de Ifach, which is over 332 metres in height and is now a nature park that protects unique vegetation and over 300 species of animals. Calpe also has two long, sandy, white beaches that offer excellent swimming and kite surfing possiblilities as well as salt flats, an ancient salt mine where today flamingos can be seen in their natural habitat. The old town of Calpe has traditional narrow winding streets and typical Spanish architecture with a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Calpe , though is a place of contrast as not only does it have the romantic old town, but also modern buildings, fantastic bars and a great night life.
